New York City Motor Vehicle Accident Summary ReportThe New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (NYSDMV) compiles motor vehicle accident data gathered by New York City police with motor vehicle accident data gathered from state and other municipalities to create a yearly summery of motor vehicle accidents in New York City. The report is released as the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles Summary of New York City Motor Vehicle Accidents. According to the one year study, in New York City there were a total of 79,510 motor vehicle accidents. Out of those: - 264 were reported as fatal motor vehicle accidents
- 52,711 were reported as non-fatal motor vehicle accidents
- 26,535 were reported as property damage motor vehicle accidents
- 151,866 motor vehicle were reported to be involved in accidents
- 138,565 drivers were involved in motor vehicle accidents
- 201,414 vehicle occupants were involved in motor vehicle accidents
These accidents also involved other people in New York City including: - 11,035 pedestrians
- 2,966 bicyclists
- 1,359 motorcyclists
The accidents were broken down by fatal and non-fatal accidents as follows: - 273 people were killed in New York City as a result of motor vehicle accidents:

- 74,986 people were injured in New York City as a result of motor vehicle accidents:
