Highway Speed EZPass Project At The Spring Valley Toll Barrier
The New York State Thruway Authority today announced that an overnight traffic diversion will be in place Wednesday, November 8, 2006 as part of the Highway Speed E-ZPass project at the Spring Valley Toll Barrier. The diversion is necessary in order to repave a section of roadway. The repaving will result in a smoother surface resulting in more accurate reading of E-ZPass tags.
Beginning at 10 p.m. on Wednesday, November 8, and continuing through 5 a.m. on Thursday, November 9, weather permitting, all northbound traffic at the Spring Valley Toll Barrier, just north of Interchange 14A (Garden State Parkway Connector) will be diverted through the toll lanes. If necessary, the two left non-toll lanes will be closed from 5:00 a.m. through 6:00 a.m., and one left lane will be closed from 6:00 a.m. through 7:00 a.m. All northbound lanes will be opened by 7:00 a.m., Thursday, November 9. Passenger vehicles will not be charged a toll when passing through the toll lanes during this diversion.
The Authority will activate its Highway Advisory Radio (HAR), 530 AM, and Dynamic Message Signs (DMS) in advance of the area to alert motorists of the diversion through the toll plaza. The conversion of Highway Speed E-ZPass at the existing Spring Valley Toll Barrier will result in commercial E-ZPass customers driving through the area without so much as slowing down to pay a toll. At the Spring Valley Toll Barrier, which is only used by commercial traffic, the Authority introduced higher speed E-ZPass (20 mph) in June 2004. The Authority appreciates motorists' patience while this Highway Speed E-ZPass improvement project takes place.
